You either have to tell the client on the front end 'hey, I'm giving you this software that's broken, but trust me to get it right otherwise' or wait for them to call and answer the questions?Well, I haven't sent any clients the version 2 player yet - I'm waiting for it to get sorted out. I'm still using version 1.05 - which although is Windows only does in fact work as advertised.Quote:This is precisely the sort of thing that should be fixed in beta.I agree - but this didn't happen. Regardless Pieter Stenekes is in my experience is a man of his word and a great coder as well. I don't think anyone should ever buy software on a promise - including in this case - but I do in fact think a fix for all the current issues in DDP Creator/Player 2.0 is coming very soon.Best regards,Steve Berson.

If I paid for software that performed like this I'd be PO'd - especially if I had sent it to a client.Again, I have no intention of speaking ill towards Sonoris or Pieter, but this release seems to be very poorly checked, and in the realm of mastering, this is A Very Bad Thing. It makes me wonder what else could be wrong under the hood. The update fixing all known bugs was released today. Here's the info from Sonoris:Quote:Latest news from Sonoris Audio Engineering (December 30, 2009)Welcome to the Sonoris Newsletter.

Really, I have some enthusiasm for a utility package like this, especially as a means of digital ref-delivery. And I know it's gotten better in this rev, but these issues seem pretty basic and essential. 'beta' worthy.Sadly, it still seems like it would be quicker to overnight a ref than to type all the precautions necessary for a client to know what they were getting when using this DDP software.I'm still looking forward to the ready version, though.-dave.

Bringing this back to the top to just let folks know that I received a beta for DDP Creator 2.02 - and from my initial tests it looks like all the issues with version 2.01 have been fixed - with CD-R master discs burned from it now correctly containing any audio that has been set in any pauses (i.e. Areas marked after an index 0 id). From my initial tests seems the issues with CD ripping has now been completely fixed as well - and it reads not only audio in the pause gap areas, but also TOC as it exists on disc, and CD Text and UPC/MCN as well. It didn't read the ISRC that was burned on disc (where as I could with Plextools and EAC) but I sent Pieter Stenekes a bug report regarding this - and hopefully he can fix this one minor remaining issue prior to the general release of 2.02.Best regards,Steve Berson.
