Pulse-eight Libcec Support For Mac

Hello dear devs, recently I've purchased a brand new NUC7i5BNK. One of the reasons I've bought it is the included HDMI CEC support. However I've found out very quickly that it doesn't do what I've expected (at least not out of the box): Allow TV remote control interaction via CEC with a media center software (Kodi). So I thought: ok - the hardware is probably not yet supported by libcec.

I run Kodi on my Mac Mini, which I have connected to my TV via HDMI. I would love to be able to dispense with the TV remote, and have everything operate through the Mac Mini. I was thinking of purchasing the Pulse Eight USB CEC adapter, and am curious if anyone has any experience with it. In particular, if I connect it, will I be able to just power on my Mac Mini from sleep and have the TV turn on automatically in response? (Turning off is easy. The Mac Mini sleeps after x minutes, and the TV powers off when there's no signal.) Just wanting to make sure I'm not missing anything here.
Also, everything I've read seem to tie this directly to Kodi, but would the same effect be achieved whether I have the Kodi app running or not? (I mean, wouldn't it just be a function of whether the Mac Mini is on and sending an HDMI signal?) Hoping I'm understanding wha the Pulse Eight does before buying. I use the USB-CEC adapter, but mine is on a windows box. On windows, I am able to bring the HTPC out of sleep using the TV remote.
As long as you are able to bring up a mac from sleep based on USB feedback, this should be possible. Also there are plenty of other software that can interpret HDMI-CEC buttons and I have mapped mine to keyboard commands so i can use them with any software and not just kodi.So while all of the things you have requested are possible, I am just not 100% on the Mac side of things.
